How faithful is the conversion?
Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, images and basic character formatting come across reliably. Very intricate layouts — text boxes, columns, floating shapes — may reflow.
Does it support .doc as well as .docx?
Only .docx. The older binary .doc format is a different thing entirely; open it in Word and save it as .docx first.
